Trout fishing, like much in life, has become needlessly complex. High-tech gear and an ever present social media hub have clouded the soul of this enchanting sport. At its best fly fishing for trout is a simple recreation that has the power to inspire generations. It shares wonderful locations and celebrates a rich heritage stretching back centuries which is encapsulated in the Flyfishers Club motto of “Piscator Non Solum Piscatur” – (“It is not all of fishing to fish.)

So, with that in mind kick your heels back and read a series of fly-fishing articles that share information, tips and techniques about all aspects of fishing for trout in rivers. From fishing classic dry flies to the rich history and subtle nuances of fishing traditional north country spider patterns.

The Slidingstream Blog writes about our rich angling heritage with fly fishing articles, tips, photos and videos about fishing for wild brownies in the freestone rivers of the Yorkshire Dales and beyond.
